Twitter users, in theory, will never again have to miss another interesting tweet.
The social network is rolling out a new feature that alerts users to interesting accounts and Tweets.
Android and iPhone Twitter app users will now receive account and tweet suggestions via push notifications.
“If you’re like me, you occasionally feel like you’re missing out on some of the day’s great tweets, or that you’re the last to find out when someone awesome joins Twitter,” senior software engineer for search and relevance Venu Satuluri said in a blog post.
“We wanted to tackle that problem. With this new feature, you’ll receive personalized recommendations when multiple people in your network follow the same user or favorite or retweet the same tweet.”
The new recommendation feature is based on @MagicRecs, an experimental account launched by the social network to send a direct message to users with personalized recommendations and relevant updates.
“We hope these recommendations keep you even more connected and in the know,” Satuluri said. “Oh, and for the curious, we’ll continue to use @MagicRecs as an experiment. Thanks for experimenting with us.”
Users can change their notification settings via the ‘recommendations’ toggle in their notifications settings.
